IKEA teamed up with Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek, known for skilled craftsmanship and unique scrap wood furniture, to explore the idea, bringing together industrialization and personalisation in INDUSTRIELL.
Piet says the idea of using what material is there and discovering its qualities is what he loves about working with salvage furniture. Paired with the IKEA philosophy of working directly on the factory floor to make the most of materials and techniques, efficiency is a key aspect of the collection.

“Part of my focus has been on reducing waste during production” 

I did the art direction for the Industriell collection together with a team of four creatives at IKEA Creative Hub. The purpose of the ads was to display Piets journey in working with IKEA from early ideas to the factory floor and how it landed in peoples homes. Therefore the communication package include a short and easy to capture movie about Piets journey with IKEA and product images representing the products in home environments as well as on the factory floor.
